The European Commission to Invest €736,000 to Boost Green Business Leadership Training in Latin America
The Erasmus+ Program has selected the SLGB project, aimed at co-creating and delivering a postgraduate course to build capacities in strategic leadership and green entrepreneurship, specifically targeted at graduates in technical and scientific fields.
The project entitled “Strategic Leadership in Green Business” (SLGB) began in November 2024 and has a duration of 24 months.
The consortium is composed of the following institutions:
- UPV Universitat Politècnica de València (Spain)
- Latam Connect (Spain)
- University of Vaasa (Finland)
- Halmstad University (Sweden)
- Universidad Estatal de Bolívar (Ecuador)
- Universidad Politécnica Estatal del Carchi (Ecuador)
- Universidad Nacional Abierta y a Distancia (Colombia)
- Universidad De La Costa (Colombia)
- Universidad Nacional del Sur (Argentina)
- Universidad Nacional de San Martín (Argentina)
- Warm Argentina Asociación Civil (Argentina)
During the first year of the project, the educational proposal will be consolidated, and pedagogical content will be developed. In the second year, enrollments will open in Colombia, Ecuador, and Argentina, offering a total of 180 fully funded spots for the first cohort of students (60 per country).
With an innovative educational approach, SLGB will foster a digital learning space using principles of gamification. The content will offer a comprehensive approach that combines theory and practice, working on real-world challenges. In response to these challenges, the program will encourage the development of green business ideas. The training process will culminate in an “idea hackathon,” where the best project from each country will be selected. The three winning projects will travel to Spain to participate in business rounds, conferences, and networking sessions with global investors to help turn these ideas into successful startups.
In conclusion, it is worth highlighting that this project arises in response to the growing demand for environmental responsibility from societies as well as economies. Innovation in products and processes has become essential to address an increasingly challenging context. Therefore, universities are committed to building leadership that channels technical knowledge into sustainable businesses with a systemic vision and a strong social commitment.
